Fall and spring programs are open to students in grades 11 or 12 who live within commuting distance. Students must be actively enrolled in their secondary school throughout their studies at Columbia. They are permitted to study for two terms, with continuation into the second term contingent on successful completion of the first.
The two-term program is open to students that graduated within the past two academic years.
Students are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Applications are processed on a rolling basis and will not be reviewed until all application materials have been submitted.

Notification of Admissions DecisionThe processing of application materials can take one to two weeks, and upon completion of your application file it will take approximately three to five weeks for a decision to be made. Please allow sufficient time after submitting your application before contacting the Office of Admissions about your application status. We encourage you, however, to check your application status online as often as you like.
$80.00 nonrefundable application fee payment in U.S. currency must accompany the application.
The writing sample must be a graded assignment from your high school that showcases your best work.
The statement should address the following:
- A brief summary of your academic background and your personal and academic goals.
- Clearly articulated ideas regarding why the College Edge program appeals to you and how participation in the program will help you realize your academic and personal goals.
- A description of a situation in which you contributed to the learning of your fellow students in the classroom that will allow the admissions committee to consider how you would fit into a learning experience at the university level.
Transcripts of applicant's secondary school academic record are required. We require grades for all secondary school work completed, including the most recent report card of current coursework. We strongly recommend submitting unofficial documents through the online application system at the time of application as this will expedite the admissions process. All documents must be provided by the school and cannot be a document downloaded from a student’s grading portal. All institutions attended must be listed in the Academic History section of the online application.
If you are unable to obtain an unofficial copy of your transcript, please request to have an official copy sent from your school. It should be e-mailed by a school official’s professional email to email@example.com. It can also be mailed to our office at the address listed at the bottom of this page. Note that mailed documents can take several weeks to be processed.
Transcripts must be in English or come with an official translation. International students not graded according to the U.S. grading system should provide a grading key with the transcript. Applicants are recommended to use NACES for such services.
Falsification, forgery, and misrepresentation of any type will risk forfeiture of admissions and/or enrollment.
Candidates offered admission will later be required to supply official documents prior to enrollment and course registration.
The School Profile must be submitted by your guidance counselor, headmaster, or principal as an uploaded document on the Guidance Counselor recommendation form. It can also be included as part of the transcript uploaded on the student application.
The school profile is created by a student’s school. It usually includes information about the types of classes offered (AP, IB, etc), GPA distribution and/or ranking, graduation rates, and other notable facts about the school. Each profile is different, but they all give our admissions team more information about students’ academic performance in the context of their high school.
Attesting to your intellectual strengths and commitment to personal and academic growth. One letter must be from your school principal or guidance counselor and must include an approval of the courses you have selected for study. The second letter must be from a teacher.
Falsification, forgery, and misrepresentation of any type will risk forfeiture of admissions and/or enrollment. Forfeiture may occur whenever an integrity lapse is discovered and may include admissions revocation, expulsion, or another sanction outlined within the Student Conduct and Community Standards. Applicants would not be entitled to request any refund of the application fee, enrollment deposit or tuition in the case that Re Vera Services is unable to verify the letters of recommendation submitted in support of the application.
This requirement is only for non-native English speakers who are not currently enrolled in a high school program at a U.S. school or at a school where the language of instruction is English.

English Language Proficiency
Applicants whose native language is not English will be required to demonstrate English language proficiency by submitting official TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) scores. Scores must meet the following minimum requirements: TOEFL iBt scores must be 100 or above, TOEFL PBT scores must be 600 or above, IELTS scores must be 7.0 or above.
Official TOEFL scores must be submitted through the ETS portal using the Columbia school code 2594. To report official IELTS scores, please email the TRF number (located on the bottom of your score report) to firstname.lastname@example.org.

This requirement is only waived if the applicant is currently enrolled in a high school program at a U.S. school or at a school where the language of instruction is English.
If a school profile is unavailable, students should provide official PSAT, SAT, or ACT test scores. Students should only submit official test scores if a high school profile is not available. Test scores submitted otherwise will not be considered in the application review. Unofficial test scores cannot be considered.
PSAT scores should be submitted officially by emailing the PDF score report to email@example.com. You may also send your official scores to Columbia University School of Professional Studies using the following school codes: SAT school code: 2594; ACT school code: 2721.
