What to Bring

Enrolled Students | Summer 2020

Course Materials

For most curricular options, students will need to bring only notebooks and writing implements; participants should budget approximately $50 for books and other course materials to be purchased after the program begins.

Courses Requiring Laptops

Laptops are required for the courses listed below. There are no particular hardware or software requirements, and either a PC or a Mac is acceptable:

Additional Course Materials

Participants in Filmmaking with iPhone and iPad are expected to have either an iPhone or iPad (newer models are preferable, with the oldest possible iPhone model being the “6S”) and should be prepared to download the mobile video camera app FiLMiC Pro ($15) from the app store. Students should also purchase, ahead of time, an iPhone shotgun mic accessory. For those who wish to maximize their iPhone's filmmaking abilities, a Moondog iPhone lens, while not required, can be useful. Laptops are also highly recommended for editing of the films.

For reasons of safety and convenience, students are required to have cellphones that function with cellular data in the United States, not only via WiFi data.

We recommend that students wear cool, comfortable clothing; there is no dress code. Students should check their course webpage about clothing that might be required for their course.

Students who commute to campus should bring either bag lunches or lunch money (approximately $7-15). There are many cafes, restaurants, and markets close to campus, and the dining hall is available to commuter students on a pay-per-meal basis.
