Urvi Awasthi

Urvi Awasthi is a seasoned Data Scientist with significant contributions to both academia and the industry. She is currently working at BCG X, the tech and build division of the Boston Consulting Group. In this role, she designs and applies scalable deep-learning solutions across various industries and has authored two patents relating to scalable machine-learning systems using large language and multimodal models. Urvi also collaborates with OpenAI to develop instructional methods and materials for teaching Data Science to young professionals using Generative AI. A Columbia alumna with a degree in Applied Math and Data Science, she has formerly instructed in machine learning, data science, and calculus at her alma mater. She has conducted and published academic research at Columbia’s Computer Science and Mathematics departments. Her research includes machine learning, with emphasis on areas in deep learning such as Natural Language Processing, Responsible AI with LLMs, Graph Transformer Models, and advanced statistical, optimization, and embedding methods in Riemannian latent spaces.
