A. Avery Milton has been teaching philosophy for almost 30 years. He studied philosophy in college and graduate school and holds a master’s from Teachers College, Columbia University, where he was also a teaching assistant for courses on law and educational institutions. Some of the favorite courses he has had the privilege of teaching are Introduction to Western Philosophy, Social and Political Philosophy, American Philosophy and Pragmatism, Philosophy of Food and the Body, Plato’s Symposium, and Aristotle’s Ethics. In addition to his independent school teaching experience, Mr. Milton has taught courses in the Summer Program for High School Students since 2006: Introduction to Philosophical Enquiry, Advanced Topics in Philosophy, and most recently, Collective Social Action and Transcendentalism.
