Bernardo Zavattini is an architect and lighting designer based in Brooklyn, New York. He has taught as a Summer Intensive Architecture Studies instructor at Parsons The New School for Design for seven years, in addition to teaching classes at Pratt Institute and I-Beam Studio. Previously, during his earlier career as an artist, he spent four years as a fine art painting instructor at the School of Visual Arts (ECBA-EDHEA) in Sion, Switzerland. With over 25 years of experience, Bernardo has contributed to a wide range of architecture and art projects. Notable collaborations include large-scale art lighting and architectural installations with renowned artist Kimsooja, including projects at the Cisternerne in Copenhagen, the Paris Metro Station Mairie de St. Ouen, the Museo Reina Sofia Palacio de Cristal in Madrid, and the Korean Pavilion at the Venice Art Biennale 2013. He has served as a lead designer on commercial, hospitality, educational, and urban projects with Kondylis Architects and JFA Architects, and has collaborated with esteemed firms such as SITE Architects, L’Observatoire International, the Guggenheim Museum, Lee Skolnick Architects, and James Patten Studio. Some noteworthy projects include the Children’s Museum of the East End, Long Island with Lee Skolnick, The Santa Monica Museum with Narduli /Grinstein, and the Lusail Master Plan in Qatar with Kondylis Architects. Bernardo holds a Master of Architecture degree from Rice University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from ESAV-HEAD in Geneva, Switzerland.
