Nenette Arroyo

Nenette Arroyo holds a Ph.D. in art and architectural history from the University of Virginia and an MA in the history of decorative arts and design from Parsons School of Design at The New School. She teaches the history of architecture and material culture, most recently at The George Washington University, the University of Virginia, and Kent State University.  She authored “The Shifting Sacred: Architecture and Ritual in the California Missions,” Saeculum Jahrbuch für Universalgeschichte 71/2 (2022), and has an essay in the forthcoming Visual Ecologies of Place-Making (Bloomsbury Press). Other publications include Sacred Light: Stained Glass Windows of Southeastern Virginia (Chrysler Museum of Art and Virginia Arts Festival, 2009) and two articles for White House History Quarterly.
