Rebecca Zola

Rebecca Zola is a scholar, performer, and educator in the fields of music and ethnomusicology. As a scholar, Rebecca has presented her work at conferences across the United States, the UK, Austria, and Israel. Her original research has been published in multiple academic journals and edited volumes, including The Routledge Companion to Jazz and Gender, Min-Ad, Jazz Perspectives, and Jazz Research Journal (forthcoming). As a jazz musician, she has performed both her original compositions and a wide range of repertoire from the Great American Songbook across the United States and Europe. Rebecca is completing her Ph.D. in ethnomusicology at Columbia University, where she has also taught undergraduate courses in the music department. As an alumna of the Columbia Pre-College Program, she is thrilled to be returning as an instructor.
