Rachel Cohen holds a PhD in Ecology, Evolution, and Environmental Biology from Columbia University and a B.A. in Biology from Amherst College. Cohen's dissertation research focused on the genetic mechanisms that underlie plant-plant interactions, which involved fieldwork, molecular labwork, and bioinformatics. Cohen is passionate about teaching, mentorship, and environmental education, and has participated in research and taught environmental science classes all over the world, including the Italian Alps, the Bhutanese Himalayas, the Peruvian Amazon, and the Colorado Rocky Mountains. She has taught undergraduate-level courses in Statistics, Evolutionary Biology, Ecology, and Environmental Science. Cohen's expertise spans biodiversity science, ecosystem functioning, and conservation.
