Seungyup Shin

Seungyup Shin is a PhD candidate in the Department of Political Science at Columbia University. He employs game theoretic tools to analyze the inner workings of autocratic regimes, with an emphasis on elite level politics and authoritarian power sharing.
Currently, his research focuses on the composition of the ruling coalition and the presence of intra-elite rivalry. In particular, he examines how variations in the coalition influence the dictator's ultimate goal of power consolidation.
He has been part of a number of game theory courses at Columbia University, with several years of experience in both the introductory and advanced game theory courses aimed towards PhD students in the political science department.
