Storyboarding: Sequential Visual Narrative New

This course introduces students to the craft and fundamentals of storyboarding as a form of sequential visual narrative. Students will explore how ideas are developed and communicated visually for animation, film, graphic novels, and other narrative media.

Through drawing exercises, storyboarding assignments, and original projects, students will learn to develop characters, plan visual sequences, and use composition, staging, camera angles, pacing, and continuity to communicate a story.

Class time will combine demonstrations, lectures, drawing and storyboarding exercises, group project work, peer feedback, and instructor critiques. Students will continue to develop their drawing skills while gaining a stronger understanding of cinematic and narrative language.

Students will gain experience presenting and pitching ideas through storyboard presentations, while exploring portfolio development, time management, professional conduct, and the collaborative nature of a production environment.
