Aditya Singh
Instructor | Pre-College Programs
Aditya Singh is a PhD candidate in Economics at The New School for Social Research. He holds an MS in Economics from The New School and a BA in Economics and Writing from Eugene Lang College, NY. Aditya’s research argues that central banks implement policy decisions, such as inflation targeting, which strengthen Central Bank Independence (CBI) under the guise of “sound” economics. However, these frameworks often entrench financial subordination in the Global South by promoting austerity and limiting the democratic use of monetary and fiscal tools to address systemic challenges, such as climate change and economic inequality. Aditya is currently an Adjunct Lecturer at Adelphi University, where he has taught Macroeconomics, Development Economics, and International Business, and will be teaching Money and Banking and Microeconomics in the upcoming term. Aditya also served as a Research Assistant for Professor Clara Mattei, contributing to her 2021 book, The Capital Order: How Economists Invented Austerity and Paved the Way to Fascism. His teaching experience includes assisting with courses on the Theoretical Foundations of Political Economy and the Economics of Gender at Barnard College, as well as Introduction to Political Economy and Economics and Ethics at The New School. Deeply committed to mentorship, Aditya strives to equip his students with the confidence and analytical tools needed to partake in "grown-up" conversations about the economy, not just as passive learners but as critical participants.
