Alex Requena is a sports executive and educator with extensive international experience across the sports industry and higher education. He earned a degree in International Business from the University of Valencia in Spain and a Master’s in International Sport & Event Management from KEDGE Business School in Marseille, France. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Leadership, Management, and Policy at Seton Hall University. Professionally, Alex has held leadership roles with the National Basketball Association (NBA), where he helped launch and scale the Basketball Africa League (BAL), a landmark new professional league on the continent. He later served as Executive Vice President of Strategy for Paris Basketball, supporting the club’s rapid rise to the EuroLeague and the development of a new arena that hosted events during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Through his consulting practice, he has advised leading sports organizations, including the National Football League (NFL), on international growth strategy and major events. As an educator, Alex has taught and lectured students in France, Spain, Africa, and the United States, bringing a global perspective on sport business and strategy into the classroom.
