Alexis Yoo

Alexis Yoo is a current graduate student in Columbia University’s Fiction MFA program and a former student of the Gotham Writers Workshop. She is currently working on a speculative fiction literary novel. She teaches writing at the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and brings a diverse professional background, having spent six years in corporate human resources before transitioning to fiction writing full-time. Alexis was a featured panelist at the 2024 Imagine Talks Leadership Conference, hosted by the Asian America Foundation. She spoke alongside prominent writers, including Amy Chua and Abigail Hing Wen, on the importance of authenticity and creativity. Dedicated to fostering her students’ creative growth, Alexis emphasizes the importance of consistent writing practice. She is passionate about teaching fiction writing to nurture imagination, promote mental health, and cultivate storytelling within and across communities.
