Carla De Ycaza

Carla De Ycaza (PhD International Human Rights Law, National University of Ireland Galway; MA Human Rights Studies, Columbia University; BA Political Science and Classics, Vassar College) teaches at the Center for Global Affairs at New York University and specializes in international human rights law and transitional justice. She has served as Editor of the Dialogues on Historical Justice and Memory Network at the Institute for the Study of Human Rights at Columbia University, and Editor in Chief of the Interdisciplinary Journal of Human Rights Law. She has worked at various organizations including the Tanenbaum Center for Interreligious Understanding, the Norwegian Refugee Council and the International Peace Institute. She has taught courses in human rights, transitional justice, international law, international relations, international development, international and intercultural conflict and communication, genocide studies, African civil wars, and social policy at New York University, Fordham University, and Baruch College. In 2016, she co-edited a volume entitled Remembering the Rescuers of Victims of Human Rights Crimes in Latin America, published by Lexington Books. She has also worked with several civil society organizations in Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda and Uganda.
