Christopher Eckdahl

Dr. Chris Eckdahl is a Lecturer in Chemistry at Columbia University, where he teaches general and organic chemistry. He earned his undergraduate degree in Chemistry and Physics from Oberlin College and his PhD from Northwestern University, where he worked under Professor Julia Kalow. His research focused on developing new strategies to control organic photochemical reactions and introducing photo-responsive behaviors to nanomaterials.

Chris began teaching at Columbia in 2022. He is passionate about promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in chemistry education through active learning and alternative grading.
