Jane McManus

Jane McManus is an academic and author. Her book, The Fast Track: Inside the Surging Business of Women's Sports, was published in February 2025.
She spent nearly 10 years at ESPN, covering the NFL and working as a columnist for espnW. She hosted two radio shows, including The Trifecta with Kate Fagan and Sarah Spain, and was a frequent analyst on SportsCenter, The Sports Reporters, and Outside the Lines, among other ESPN programs.
Before joining ESPN, McManus covered everything from high school sports to the U.S. Open for The Journal News in Westchester, NY. Her work has also appeared in Newsday, The New York Times, USA Today, and other outlets. She has been a guest on Good Morning America, CNN, and NPR’s Morning Edition.
McManus has led two academic centers focused on sports communication—first at Marist College and later at Seton Hall University. She is currently an adjunct instructor at New York University's Preston Robert Tisch Institute for Global Sport.
