Mario A. Gonzalez Corzo

Mario G. Corzo earned a Ph.D. in Economics/International Relations from Rutgers University. He also holds Masters Degrees in Economics and Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Rutgers University.

He is (tenured) Full Professor of Economics and Finance at the Department of Finance, Information Systems, and Economics at the School of Business at Lehman College of The City University of New York (CUNY).  He is also a Lecturer in Finance at the School of Professional Studies (SPS) at Columbia University.   

Dr. Corzo serves as Faculty Fellow at the Bildner Center for Western Hemisphere Studies at The Graduate Center (CUNY), and Contributing Editor for the Handbook of Latin American Studies (HLAS) published by the Library of Congress.

His research and publications include articles in peer-reviewed academic journals, book chapters, book reviews, conference proceedings, and other scholarly contributions focusing on diverse areas such as: financial asset ownership among different demographic groups in the U.S., labor market trends in the financial sector, and entrepreneurship and economic reforms in transition economies.

In the private sector, Dr. Corzo has provided consulting, strategic, and investment advice to global banks and insurance companies in the US, Europe, and Latin America, and has worked with institutional clients to manage their risk exposure in Latin America and other emerging markets throughout the world. His long career in the financial services industry includes senior roles and functions at major firms such as: Pricewaterhouse Coopers, LLP, and JP Morgan Chase.
