Raphael Cohn
Raphael (Raffi) Cohn, Ph.D. is a neuroscientist and science educator at Columbia University’s Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute. His research investigates how neural circuits in invertebrate models like fruit flies and nematodes process sensory information and flexibly generate behavior, utilizing neurogenetics, in-vivo functional imaging and computational analysis. Dr. Cohn earned dual bachelor’s degrees in cognitive science and computer science from the University of Pennsylvania, a master’s in mathematical foundations of computer science from the University of Oxford, and a Ph.D. in neurobiology from The Rockefeller University. During his postdoctoral work at Columbia, he was a Junior Fellow of the Simons Society of Fellows. His teaching emphasizes hands-on, inquiry-driven learning to help students explore the intersection of biology, computation, and behavior.
