Sarah Wingerter

Sarah Wingerter is a writer, teacher, and physician. She is a candidate for the Master of Fine Arts degree in Nonfiction Writing at Columbia University, where she was a 2023-24 Lead Teaching Fellow with the Center for Teaching and Learning and will be a teaching fellow in the Undergraduate Writing Program in 2024-25. Dr. Wingerter has an undergraduate degree in Comparative Literature from Princeton University. She has led writing workshops for U.S. military veterans, medical students, doctors, nurses, and COVID-19 contact tracers. Dr. Wingerter has a long-standing interest in the intersections between storytelling and healthcare and is a founding director of the Boston University Medical Campus Narrative Writing Program. She has designed and led a narrative-medicine curriculum and illness-narratives elective for medical students.
