Tatiana Schnieder

Originally trained in Pedagogy and Philology in Russia, Tatiana (Tanya) Schnieder earned a Master’s in Psychology and a PhD in Biological Psychology and Behavioral Neuroscience from the City University of New York. Tatiana conducted doctoral and postdoctoral research at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, where in 10 years she advanced from a volunteer position to the rank of Assistant Professor in Clinical Neurobiology in Psychiatry. Tatiana's research led to several successful grants centered on findings of immune and blood-brain barrier associated changes in the white matter of individuals diagnosed with severe mental disorders. 

Throughout her research career, Tatiana remained dedicated to teaching and mentorship. Since 2010 she has taught 9 different courses in the Psychology Department of Hunter College, has been an on-line Instructor at SNHU, and spent the last 5 years as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Neuroscience Program at Skidmore College, where she taught introductory and advanced novel courses in Neuroscience. Tatiana is dedicated to combining cutting edge Neuroscience research with the Pedagogical approaches that foster curiosity and creative thinking.
