Andre Montes

Instructor | Pre-College Programs

Andre Montes is a biomedical engineer interested in improving human health by applying principles of physics and chemistry. After receiving his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, he contributed to the medical device industry for over three years as an R&D Engineer. He then returned to academia where he was awarded the Ford Predoctoral Fellowship and applied biophysics simulations to study how a key adhesion molecule senses external forces. During his graduate studies, he found joy in mentoring nine undergraduate researchers and teaching courses in engineering research, solid mechanics, and STEM communication. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and is excited to continue his biomedical research journey as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the National Institutes of Health.
