Brian Brown

Brian T. Brown is a journalist, author, director, producer, and teacher. He is the winner of 16 Emmys; has played key roles on 12 Olympic broadcasts; and been attached to many of the most-watched shows in American TV history. His most recent film, as a documentary writer and director, is The Last Gold (2016), about the swimming competition at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. His most recent book, published in 2019, is Someone Is Out to Get Us: A Not So Brief History of Cold War Paranoia and Madness (Twelve). As a print journalist, he has written for The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, The San Diego Union, NBC Olympics.com and NBC News.com. In television, his work has appeared on CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, PBS, TBS, ESPN, HBO, History, Discovery, Romance and Spike. At Fordham University, he has taught The Documentary Idea, a class on the history of the genre, and developed a new class, Sportswriting and Reporting. He received a BA from Columbia University, where he worked at the Sports Information Office and served as the Sports Editor and Executive Editor of The Columbia Daily Spectator.
