Elisa Chinigo

Instructor | Pre-College Programs

Elisa Chinigo is a PhD student in the Center for Neural Science at New York University (NYU). Her research combines theoretical and experimental approaches to understanding brain function, borrowing ideas from mathematics and statistical physics to explain experimentally observed neural phenomena. In particular, she is interested in how our brains process memories while we sleep so that they can be stored for long-term recall.

Prior to moving to NYC, Elisa completed a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences and Mathematics and Statistics as well as a Master’s degree in Mathematical Modelling at University College London (UCL) in the UK. She has taught several Biology, Math, and Neuroscience courses at High School and University levels, and has been involved in several college access programs that aim to increase diversity and inclusion in STEM fields.
