Jennifer Timilty

Instructor | Pre-College Programs

Jennifer Timilty is an accomplished high school English teacher who has taught in the Boston Public School system for twenty-two years. She currently teaches ninth and tenth grades at Boston Latin Academy, a  Boston Exam School. She grew up in Riverdale and Bronxville, NY, and attended Riverdale Country School, K-12th. Jennifer graduated with a BA as an English major/Italian minor from The College of the Holy Cross in 199, where she played Division I Lacrosse and studied in Florence, Italy. She received her first Masters in English Education (7-12) from New York University in 2002 and then her second Masters from Harvard University in Language and Literacy Licensure as a Reading Specialist (K-12) in 2008. She holds Professional licenses in English 8-12, English as a Second Language 5-12, and Reading Specialist K-12. She has participated in different Explicit Writing Instruction (K-12) Professional Learning courses so as to better help all students write on grade level, write across curriculums, be actively engaged with their writing, and be empowered as storytellers. Jennifer is also a member of an expert team of tutors (at Sprouting Readers), working together to deliver personalized, virtual tutoring in reading, writing, and phonics. She also teaches SAT Prep at Boston Latin Academy as well as tutors current students from Pre-K - college in standardized test taking, phonics, and college essay writing. Jennifer has been a member of the Kappa Delta Phi National Honor Society since 2001.
