Vito Cangelosi

Instructor | Pre-College Programs

Vito Cangelosi has been a computer science educator for over 25 years in secondary and post-secondary institutions and an accomplished curriculum developer for Code.org, Exploring Computer Science (ECS), and the National Science Foundation (NSF). His expertise is in algorithmic thinking, emerging technologies, computer-based blended learning theories, and equitable access to computer science education. He is currently an Online Computer Science Professor at Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth, an Adjunct Computer Science Professor at Kean University, and a full-time AP Computer Science A and Principles Instructor in New Jersey. He holds a B.S. in Finance/Computer Science from St. John’s University, an M.S. in Education and Supervision from St. Peter’s University, and an Ed.S. in Computer Science and Technology from Nova Southeastern University.  He is the recipient of the 2023 National Center for Women and Information Technology (NCWIT) New Jersey Teacher of the Year award and has served as an advisor on several undergraduate research projects. His current research interests are promoting women in STEM, development of mentorship programs, bias in machine learning systems, and cooperative learning strategies.
