Edgar Núñez is a seasoned economist and finance professional with a distinguished career at General Motors spanning pension fund operations, international capital markets, corporate finance, strategic finance, FP&A, risk management, and economic research. With over a decade of proven track record, Edgar has provided expertise to global teams and leaders in asset management, treasury functions, budget strategy, and global financial planning.
During his time at General Motors, Edgar played a pivotal role in orchestrating and overseeing financial transactions. His strategic acumen was crucial in guiding capital deployment decisions, including the shift towards electric vehicles in key markets like North America and China. Edgar's leadership was also instrumental in implementing cost-saving measures during complex labor negotiations in the United States. Additionally, he led operational initiatives that led to substantial improvements in free cash flow and EBIT across Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean.
Beyond his professional roles, Edgar is deeply committed to fostering the development of young professionals and promoting equitable access to education. He serves as a member of the Young Professionals Board at Global Kids Inc., focusing on fundraising, financial management, and community development.
Edgar holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and London Business School, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Tecnológico de Monterrey (ITESM) in Mexico and Tilburg University in the Netherlands. He has also been recognized as one of Poets & Quants’ Best & Brightest Executive MBAs in 2023 and was ranked by Mexico’s CENEVAL among the Top 40 Undergraduate Economists in 2011.
