Emmy Martin is the editor-in-chief of The Daily Tar Heel, UNC-Chapel Hill’s independent student newspaper. She led the newsroom's coverage of the 2023 fatal shooting that took place on UNC’s campus, including the viral front page of text messages sent and received by students during lockdown. She is a junior at the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media who is interested in pursuing a career in investigative journalism after graduation.
