Dr. Jack McGourty is a distinguished educator, entrepreneur, and applied psychologist dedicated to empowering and nurturing the next generation of innovators. As an adjunct professor at Columbia Business School, he teaches transformative entrepreneurship, innovation, and venture creation courses. His journey in academia began at Columbia's Engineering School, where he served as Vice Dean before transitioning to his current role. Over the past 25 years, Dr. McGourty's contributions have been pivotal in building the University's entrepreneurial community. He established an undergraduate minor in entrepreneurship, taught core and advanced courses in new venture creation and growth, and played a crucial role in launching the Columbia-Harlem Small Business Development Center. While at Columbia Business School, he founded Venture for All®, a global entrepreneurship education program that he successfully transitioned to a private company in 2023. His excellence in teaching has been recognized with the Columbia Engineering School's Distinguished Faculty Teaching Award and the Columbia Business School's Dean's Award for Teaching Excellence. Dr. McGourty is an inaugural faculty fellow of the School of Professional Studies and a long-term pre-college program instructor. He co-authors the bestselling textbook "Patterns of Entrepreneurship Management" (Wiley, 2020), now in its 6th edition, and has recently published the e-textbook "Entrepreneurial Innovation and Finance" (McGraw Hill, 2024).
