David Berkwitz is a freelance photographer and visual journalist who joined Newsweek magazine in December 1988 and was a contributing photographer for the magazine based in New York until 2001. He is based in New York City. Passionate, always looking, inspired by light, there is sensitivity in David’s imagery, an honesty, which reveals the authentic person. Fascinated by faces and telling the story, his quick-witted willingness to experiment and improvise lends itself to probing portraits. He has produced fascinating portraits and powerful social documentary images. David consistently delivers eye-catching imagery. His assignments have led him to photograph, and witness events that have changed the make-up of the world today.
