Returning Students

Instructions for returning students

We are excited to welcome you back to Columbia!

As a returning student, the application process will look a bit different. The information included on this page will provide you with an overview of what to expect, so please read all instructions carefully and be sure to follow the steps outlined for you.

Application Deadlines

Courses frequently fill up before the application deadline, so students are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Applications are processed on a rolling basis and will not be reviewed until all application materials have been submitted.

Application Deadline

We are no longer accepting applications for fall 2021.

Spring 2022

Early Registration Deadline
October 12

Priority course selection is given to students who apply by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.

Final Application Deadline
December 7

All applications and application materials must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.

Course Selection Process

Depending on your previous term of participation, the course selection and enrollment process may look different.

Rather than applying and being admitted to a specific curricular option, applicants identify two to four courses of interest during the application process and later self-register for their preferred and approved course(s). Please note, admission to the program does not reserve your spot in a specific course and will only be reserved once you complete the self-registration process.

Course availability is limited, and registration is available on a first-come first-served basis. Early applications are highly encouraged.

Application Process

Depending on your last year of participation, the application process will vary. To see which process you should follow, click the statement that matches your history of participation.

I was a student in 2019 or earlier

For those who participated in 2019 or earlier, you will receive an email in early June with an invitation to re-apply. The email will also include a fee waiver code for the $80 application fee.

The application process will require students to create a new application profile and follow the process outlined on the New Applicants page.

If you have not received a fee waiver code by early June, please email with your full name and the year you participated. Once your prior enrollment has been confirmed, we will send you a fee waiver code to enter on the application.

I was a student in 2020 or 2021

For those who participated in 2020 or 2021, you will receive an email in early June, with an invitation to re-enroll for a new term.

Students should not create a new application as it will cause an error message in your application portal. Additionally, please do not create a new application account with a new email address.

The email invitation will contain detailed instructions on how to update your application for the new term and provides an expedited re-enrollment process specifically for returning students. You will be considered a priority registration applicant as long as your application is submitted before the listed deadline.

Submit your Re-Enrollment Form

Your invitation email will include a link to a re-enrollment form. Submit the form and follow the provided instructions to login to your application portal.
