Withdrawal Policy & Deadlines
Students may withdraw with a full refund minus the non-refundable enrollment deposit if a withdrawal form is submitted by the deadlines indicated below.
Academic Year Withdrawal Deadlines
Fall 2024: September 19, 2024 11:59 p.m. ET
Spring 2025: January 16, 2025 11:59 p.m. ET

Summer Withdrawal Deadlines
NYC Residential & Commuter Summer - Session A: June 29, 11:59 p.m. ET
NYC Residential & Commuter Summer - Session B: July 21, 11:59 p.m. ET
NYC Commuter Summer - Session C: August 10, 11:59 p.m. ET
Online Summer - Session A: July 6, 11:59 p.m. ET
Online Summer - Session B: July 20, 11:59 p.m. ET
Online Summer - Session C: August 10, 11:59 p.m. ET

Deferral Policy and Deadlines
Students should plan to enroll in the term for which they apply. However, admitted students who have deposited may submit a request to defer enrollment for a maximum of one semester with the permission of the Admissions Committee. Generally, requests are granted only for compelling reasons. Reasons the Admissions Committee may consider include medical or family emergencies, or extraordinary opportunities.
Students may only defer admission to the following term. For example, a student who is admitted and deposited for a summer program may only defer one semester and enroll in the fall term. This same student must reapply if they are interested in a spring program.
Academic Year Deferral Deadlines
After the deadline has passed, students and parents/legal guardians are responsible for payment for the current semester.

Notice about COVID-19 and Refunds
We understand the heightened concerns families have surrounding COVID-19. The University is committed to reducing the spread of COVID-19 and has taken extensive measures to ensure the health and safety of the Columbia community. Students who test positive during their residential program will be required to quarantine, and during that period will participate in the program virtually. Commuter students who test positive will also have the ability to participate virtually during their quarantine period.
