College Edge: Academic Year

In the College Edge program, students in grades 11–12 get a meaningful college experience by earning college credit as they learn alongside Columbia’s undergrad students on our Morningside campus. Students will also receive academic advisement and professional development opportunities.

The College Edge experience has allowed me to become more hard-working than I ever thought I could be, and I have made so many friends with such focus and drive."

– Timothy C.

Students enroll in the same courses offered to Columbia undergraduate students, earn college credit, and study alongside undergraduate students. When selecting a course load, plan to spend two to three hours of study outside class for every hour spent in class.

World-Class Faculty

Our diverse and international faculty are experts in their fields. They are committed to sharing their knowledge, insight, and experience with students.

Student Life

Perhaps more than any other of our pre-college programs, learning goes beyond the classroom with College Edge. In this program, students prepare for college by experiencing college: they enroll in university courses to earn credit alongside undergraduate students; they will discover more about themselves in order to better understand their own values and strengths—and they will learn how to eloquently communicate who they are and what they stand for. Our dedicated Student Life team creates unique and effective workshops exploring these themes and more to help students prepare for both college and career, develop leadership skills, and make lasting connections with peers from all over the world.

Campus Resources

Besides, of course, having New York City at our doorstep, Morningside Campus has an extensive amount of resources. Most of these are available to active students with a Columbia University ID.

Program Policies

In order to provide an excellent and enjoyable experience for all our students, there are essential policies, standards, and requirements.

On-Campus Housing

On-campus housing is not available for the College Edge program. Students who will not reside in their primary residence during the program must live at a residence that includes direct adult supervision in the form of a family member or family friend who will live in the same domicile. Students must not take unsupervised housing in the form of hotel rooms, Airbnb rentals, hostels, or other such accommodation

Tuition and Fees

Tuition and fees are subject to approval by the Board of Trustees and may change.

Tuition: $2,376 per point

Tuition Calculation Example:

  • 3 points × $2,376 per point = $7,128 total

  • (3 points typically equal 1 course)

The non-refundable $500 deposit, due upon notification of acceptance to the program, is credited toward this cost.

Not included in this amount are required fees, such as the application fee ($80), and varying course-specific fees. Students are advised to budget at least $50 toward course materials, such as textbooks or supplies; any required course materials will be listed at the bottom of the relevant course page.
