Crown Awards
Crown Awards recognize overall excellence in either print or digital student publications, chosen by a panel of judges working as a team. Entries are compared against one another with similar age and experience levels such as high school yearbooks against other high school yearbooks, and so forth. Written results are not provided to individual publications.
Crown categories divided into three major groups: Magazines, News, and Yearbooks. Publications may enter under the following formats: Print, Digital, and Hybrid. In the Yearbook category, publications are entered only under the Print category.
Gold Circle Awards
Gold Circle Awards recognize individual achievement by students from any CSPA member in four major categories: News; Magazine; Digital Media; and Yearbook. Of these major categories, each has multiple subcategories: 47 in News; 29 in Magazine; 36 in Digital Media; and 34 in Yearbook. Members opting to enter for Gold Circle consideration may submit up to 30 individual entries. Additional entries may also be submitted for an additional fee.
Certificates are awarded to First, Second, or Third Place, and up to three additional Certificates of Merit are given for Honorable Mention in each category. Gold Circle Award entries require separate submission: by August 16 for all publications.
