About the Greenman Leadership Grant
The Ethel and Harry Reckson Foundation has provided a grant to Columbia University for the benefit of the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA).
CSPA has designated this grant as the Greenman Leadership Grant, named in memory of Robert and Carol Greenman, who lived and worked in New York City for the majority of their lives.
Robert taught English and journalism in NYC public schools for 30 years. He was also a long-time supporter of CSPA and actively participated in the association's programs and events. Both Robert and Carol were ardent supporters of the student press, and the pair collaborated on several books and articles on writing and language.
The Greenmans were committed to diversifying the talent pipeline in both faculty and student staff within student media, and this funding aligns with their efforts to enhance student diversity in scholastic journalism for the present and future.
