About the Greenman Leadership Grant
The Ethel and Harry Reckson Foundation has provided a grant to Columbia University for the benefit of the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA).
CSPA has designated this grant as the Greenman Leadership Grant, named in memory of Robert and Carol Greenman, who lived and worked in New York City for the majority of their lives.
Robert taught English and journalism in NYC public schools for 30 years. He was also a long-time supporter of CSPA and actively participated in the association's programs and events. Both Robert and Carol were ardent supporters of the student press, and the pair collaborated on several books and articles on writing and language.
The Greenmans were also deeply involved in the efforts of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the faculty and student staffs of student media. The primary function of this funding is to further their efforts to diversify the student population involved in scholastic journalism now and in the future.
